geognerd Geospatial Stock Index - March 7, 2008

The GGSI continues its downward slide, now into a third week.  The index closed down 41.03 points at 1192.05.  The index hasn’t seen these depths since March 30, 2007.  There were 10 gaining stocks and 20 losing stocks.

Biggest winners - GeoEye (6.62%), Yahoo (4.50%), Telvent (2.86%)

Biggest losers - Cobra (-17.12%), Oce (-15.38%), SiRF (-12.98%)

News

Garmin (-6.08%) - Upgraded by Davenport from Reduce/Sell to Neutral.  Introduced new series of nuvisPurchasing more European distributors.

ITT (-2.95%) - Delivered imaging system for DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-2 satellite.

NAVTEQ (-2.29%) - Expanded map data coverage of New Zealand and Thailand.

Rockwell Collins (-2.26%) - Plans to purchase Athena Technologies, maker of navigation equipment.

Yahoo (4.50%) - Added neighborhood boundaries and some POI data to Yahoo! Maps.  Ironic that Yahoo uses WordPress to produce their blog.
