Danica vs. Milka

In case you haven’t seen it, check out this pit road confrontation between IndyCar drivers Danica Patrick and Milka Duno:

I have to say, I side with Danica on this one. Milka is ridiculously slow. I don’t see how she can maintain her racing credential for IndyCar. She is always slow and getting in the way of leading cars. I remember the race I went to at Iowa. I wasn’t at all surprised when Milka was lapped in less than 15 laps. You don’t appreciate how much slower her car is until you see it in person. The TV broadcast tends not to show her getting lapped. I mean, it’s not that interesting to see one car pass another that is going 20mph slower. But it is so dangerous. You watch Milka and you just gasp every time you see a faster car catch up and have to take an evasive maneuver to get around her.

If the IRL would wave my Prius through tech inspection, I guarantee I would finish better than Milka.

It’s about time someone went and confronted her about her crappy driving. And it is her driving. It is not Dreyer & Reinbold’s fault. With Townsend Bell and Sarah Fisher (back in the day) in the car, they actually did OK. With Milka in the car, it’s like they’re dragging a 500 pound lead weight. A guy couldn’t confront Milka on her crappy driving because it would look like a guy picking on a girl. But with Danica, there is no sexist overtone. It’s a straight-up criticism of driving. I have to say that Milka Duno is by far the worst driver to ever menace the IRL since its inception over 10 years ago. The league needs to put Duno through another rookie test. If she is unable to maintain an adequate speed, ban her from racing in the league. It’s that simple. I really doubt Citgo would pull their sponsorship if she left the league. And if Citgo did, who cares? There are plenty of other companies out there who could step in.

Here’s to hoping Danica spins Milka into the fence.
